CIRFS published its position paper on the proposed Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA)

1 June 2026, Brussels

Today, CIRFS published its position paper on the proposed Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA), outlining the priorities of the European man-made fibres industry for a stronger and more competitive industrial future in Europe.

The paper welcomes the European Commission's initiative to reinforce the EU's industrial base but calls for a more ambitious approach to support energy-intensive industries and strategic value chains. CIRFS highlights the critical role of man-made fibres in sectors such as renewable energy, electric mobility, construction, defence, and advanced manufacturing, while underlining the growing challenges posed by high energy costs, global overcapacity, and unfair competition from imports.

Among its key recommendations, CIRFS advocates stronger market-pull measures, explicit recognition of the man-made fibres sector within local-content requirements, enhanced support for industrial decarbonisation projects, and measures to preserve Europe's remaining production capacities.

The position paper emphasizes that a competitive and sustainable European man-made fibres industry is essential for achieving the EU's industrial, climate, and strategic autonomy objectives.
