Trade & Competition

The European man-made fibres industry faces global competition, and one of the main responsibilities of CIRFS is to ensure that world trade rules are followed. It takes action when necessary to promote respect for World Trade Organisation rules on dumping, subsidies and tariff and non-tariff barriers.

It follows trade negotiations at both international and European level, and ensures that European negotiators are aware of man-made fibres industry interests.

CIRFS also works to ensure that rules governing competition inside the European Union are respected, including strict control of state aid, so as to avoid distortions of competition inside the European Union.
