Man-made fibres have major advantages in sustainability. Their production uses little land, they are highly durable and many are made from renewable resources or from recycled materials. European production of man-made fibres uses less than 0.06% of world oil supplies.

European production takes place under strict controls, to ensure respect for the local and global environment. Man-made fibres are an essential component in most environmental control systems.

CIRFS works closely with its members and with European authorities to promote the best possible environmental regulation in Europe.
